Andrés Meana-Fernández is Assistant Professor at the University of Oviedo (Spain) in the Thermal Machines and Engines Area of the Department of Energy. His main areas of research deal with Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources, focused on Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer related to energy applications. He also has a high drive for teaching-learning improvement, trying to bring the best out from his students.

After graduating from his M.Sc. in Industrial Enginering from the University of Oviedo (Spain) and his M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Clausthal (Germany), he finished his PhD on Energy and Process Control  (cum laude and extraordinary PhD award)  with the thesis entitled  "Optimized design of aerodynamic airfoils for vertical axis wind turbines", under a Training of University Professors (FPU) scholarship. He also has a M.Sc. in Education from the International University of La Rioja (Spain).

His professional experience has been mainly developed in the University of Oviedo, apart from working in the industry for Arcelor Mittal in Avilés (Spain) in R&D activities.
